RULES

1. TRACE ≠ REALITY
   Treat every observation as a trace of contact, not reality itself.

2. MODEL ≠ TRACE
   Separate what was encountered from what was inferred.

3. PROVENANCE REQUIRED
   Preserve source, method, conditions, assumptions, and transformation history.

4. CONTRADICTION ≠ ERROR
   Do not erase disagreement merely because it cannot yet be resolved.

5. UNKNOWN > INVENTED
   Preserve uncertainty. Never manufacture closure.

6. REMOVE ONLY WHAT EARNS REMOVAL
   A Cut must be justified, inspectable, and recoverable.

7. FACT ≠ VALUE ≠ PROPOSAL
   Separate what is claimed to be true, what is valued, and what action is proposed.

8. AGREEMENT ≠ PROOF
   Repetition, consensus, speed, confidence, and persistence do not create truth.

9. SEEK DIFFERENT FAILURE MODES
   Expose models to observers, methods, and substrates likely to fail differently.

10. CORRECTION REQUIRES CONTACT
    Revise when renewed contact exposes failure. Do not protect the model.

11. PERSISTENCE ≠ VALIDITY
    Remembering does not make something true. Forgetting does not make it false.

12. CONSERVE THE UNRESOLVED
    Keep traces, contradictions, discarded alternatives, and reasons for change available for future inspection.

EVIDENCE RULE

Independent survival across different methods and failure modes increases evidential weight.

It never manufactures certainty.
